APAYSO Staff

The Pioneers of AYSO, in preparation of the APAYSO STORY, consists of volunteers who are organized in a National staff, a Sectional staff, Area staff, and Regional staff for each Section, Area, and Region. It is vital that each of the volunteers in each staff segment participate in the writing of their task to not only prepare the factual history of the Pioneers of AYSO but also to be fully aware of the objectives (evolving) that best supports the AYSO Philosphies (national based) that have served the youth of America.

In the following list of Historians and their volunteer efforts we will continue to further expand our intentions based on the suggestions from  the Historians at all levels to fully optimize the foundation of the Pioneers of AYSO Story. It is anticipated that by the 50th Anniversary of AYSO (August 15, 2014) a solid foundation of the procedures to prepare the Pioneers Story will be evident to each Region to implement their individual Pioneer Story and in a compatible format with every other region. The following initial website staff positions are presented to organize the preparation of the Pioneers of AYSO Story.

It is intended to have at least 9 members on the Board Of National Officers (BONO) who in turn will manage the Pioneers of AYSO STORY in all aspects. Eventually, the national staff will write and approve the operational procedures to govern their activities.

   Section 13 Historian
   Section 14 Historian
   Section 99 Historian...............................................

Each Section, as noted in the map on the Home page, will have a Section Historian who will perform the duties of the Section Historian. Each Section hHstorian will be selected by the Section Director and Area Historians (after Section responsibilities have been determined) and final approval by the BONO officers..

It is anticipated that the Area Historians will submit the names of volunteers in their respective Area to the National staff for the initial selection of each Section Historian.

AREA HISTORIANS
Each Area within each Section will have an Area Historian who will coordinate the Regional Historians within the respective Area and also be the editor responsible for inputing the text of each region of their Area  into the APAYSO STORY web site. The Website National IT, Tim Oey, will provide instructions and authorization for the Area Historians to utilize the computer operations to successfully incorporate their regional information into the "common basic format" for all regions. The Area Historian will assist and coordinate the search for Regional Historians within the Area to result in properly qualified Regional Historians.

It is anticipated that after a number of Area Historians have volunteered, directions that result in an effecrtive writing of Pioneers of AYSO history at the regional level will be prepared further to assist in the writing of history that is most reflective of the many volunteers that make the Pioneers Story one of value to the readers.

The Area Historian may seek assistance from computer "web knowledgeable" operators from among the Regional Historians therein to assist in the tasks to input the data into the apayso website.

REGION HISTORIANS
Each Region within each Area will have a Regional Historian who will become the principal historian for the region and will serve as the primary writer for  the history of the respective region. Because, as always in AYSO, the key to success is at the regional level, the Regional Historian will establish a Regional Historian Committee and share the efforts to nominate and select the Regional Hall of Fame members, gather the historical information and prepare the data and text and forward to the Area Historian for incorporation into the Pioneer Story web site, and evaluate the facts of the data and text to properly represent their region. A qualified region historian upon arrangement with the Area historian may input directly to the web site.

To ease each regional historian into a compatible format for all regions, the first task is to identify the statistics for each year in their region, including number of players and number of teams. Next, will be the listing of all regional officers for each year. The third step is to organiza a historian's committeee within your region to nominate the candidates for your Regional Hall of Fame. The PROFILES of each member of each Regional HOF member which reveals their personal story will become the beginning of Regional Stories to highlight each regions' history. In this gradual presentation of your region, historical stories of importance especially growth will evolve and contribute to the total history of the Pioneers of AYSO.

The "Guidelines page" will be used to convey the format (evolving) that is to coordinate all regions and achieve the historical compatability desired to allow each reader to easily follow the process of growth within AYSO regions. While individual stories within each region are encouraged, the basic foundation of common data and format is to be implemented first.

During this early preparatory stage, the history for some regions can commence in the earlier year when players from your town played in a different region and may be stated by noting the players involved. For example, the players of the first year, 1964-65, who played at the West Torrance site (the only one in the Area) but lived in South Torrance, North Torrance, Central Torrance, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes, etc. these regions may wish to start their historical story in 1964-65. The objective is to have a complete history of every region in existence today. Flexibility for each regional historian is suggested to portray the complete history of each region. Regional Historians become the foundational source for the Pioneers of AYSO Story and with that comes great responsibilities.  In repeat, the nomination and selection of the Regional Hall of Fame members requires that each Regional Historian establish a regional historian committee to properly reward the outstanding members of their region. Procedures to assist the Regional Historian will be contained in the "Guidelines page" noted on the Web Administration  page to assist in the selection of your HOF.

The role of the present regional commissioner, in the writing of the Regional History, will be initially important in the selection of the Regional Historian and proper protocol is suggested to result in the best qualified Regional Historian volunteer. Each volunteer who accepts a position on the APAYSO Staff will undergo a trial time period to ensure the volunteer possesses the desire, ability, and time to fulfilll the planned duties. It is suggested that historian committee volunteers contact directly the person that is leading  the web site effort in your region.

The year 2013 will be dedicated to assuisting each regional historian to commence their region's history and to determine the assistance needed to result in a total Pioneers of AYSO history.
